Crypto loves to move in bursts then consolidate for a bit

After one of these wild weeks it's very common especially in crypto for things to chill for a while as the bears start using this as an excuse to call for momentum and bulls get overly excited expecting another vertical $10k Bitcoin candle (still possible but very low chance for now).

This is completely normal for a bullish move up and honestly a lot of people lose a lot of money in the consolidation range after from trying to long at the top or trying to short strength. There is a good chance of likely fakeouts in both directions.

The volatility has happened now we enter a consolidation phase and natural leverage tends to pile up here as people start getting impatient so they up the leverage but often get flushed before the real next move happens.

Energy Transfer (ET) is back under the price its chairman paid last week. Kelcy Warren bought a million units on August 18 and 19, about $21.3 million of his own money at an average of $21.26, which was slightly above where it closed that day. He already owns roughly 9% of the company. He's the last person alive who needs more of it and he bought anyway.

Energy Transfer doesn't drill anything. Midstream gets paid on the volume moving through the pipe, not on what a barrel sells for. So this selloff is sympathy and it's handed you a better price than the chairman got. The MACD is crossing down, so let that finish and watch for it to curl back positive before you step in.

The refiners are the ones with real exposure here. Those record refining margins exist because supply got knocked out. Put barrels back in the market and the margins come in with them.

PBF Energy (PBF) is sitting right on its 20-day. There's a short here already, and it gets cleaner if it cracks that line.

Ping An is the leading private life and health insurer in China. They also own a bank (Ping An) bank. The company has a reputation for being on the cutting edge of technology and retail distribution of financial products in China. It is a big cap financial with a market cap of $140bn.

Ping A first caught my attention in 2024, because I was surprised this former darling had become so lowly valued. The recent sell off in the share price and the positive 1H 2026 results have created another attractive entry point.

Ping An's investment portfolio is benefitting from the rise in equity markets and earnings look like they will beat consensus estimates for 2026 and likely 2027.

I forecast an EPS of RMB 8.8/share in 2026 and 10.2 in 2027 vs consensus of RMB 8.2 and 8.7.

This puts the shares on a 2026 P/E of 5.5x and less than 5x in 2027 with a dividend yield of 5.9%.
