Yourself: An Overlooked Asset That Will Make You A Better Trader/Investor When you're hopeful for something to grow, you invest in it But how many of you are investing properly in yourselves? My work here on Slice isn't going to turn into some self-help program, but there is far more value than most would attribute to taking care of yourself. If you've noticed a distinct change in the quality of my work, trades, and public brand – it is because I have started to focus on "Self-Actualization" A healthy body, mind, heart, and soul reduces impulsive, emotional reactions to negative situations and increases cognitive abilities to allow for calmer decision-making And most importantly, is decision-making while under pressure Even if we take care of ourselves, sometimes things happen that increase the pressure we are under – decision-making in those moments is what will make you successful in financial markets. Not letting moments make you crumble. Not letting your hopes and dreams allow you to ignore warning signs. Not letting fear and panic leave you filled with regret. As simple as it sounds, refer to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. It is like a "food pyramid" but for your overall needs, nourishment included. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs It covers: Physiological Needs (Survival) Food Water Sleep Air Shelter Sex If these aren’t met, nothing else matters. Safety Needs Physical safety Financial security Health Stability Predictability This is about feeling secure in your environment. Love & Belonging Relationships Friendship Intimacy Community Family Humans are wired for connection. Esteem Confidence Achievement Respect Recognition Status This is where ambition, reputation, and self-worth come in. Self-Actualization (Top of the Pyramid) Personal growth Fulfillment Purpose Creativity Becoming your “highest self” This is about reaching your full potential. Want to become a better trader and investor? Start at the top of this list/bottom of the period, and then work our way down the list/up the pyramid. Without a large percentage of these needs being met, you will repeatedly fail at financial markets. Remember, the wealthiest, wisest, savviest, etc. are the ones that survive. You don't need to do all of it, but truly self reflect and think through how many of these things you currently have in alignment, and start working through them as you follow my trades. As you learn from my strategies, market psychology, technical analysis, and education, work on these things above casually, or aggressively – your choice – and I promise you over time your results will increase I can never promise you an ROI investing in stocks, crypto, metals, etc. But I can promise you an ROI in investing in yourself. I'll aim to do more work like this, but again, this will remain in the background and serve as something bigger down the line. I'd love to hear some feedback. Regular analysis will resume in the morning.
