SPY + QQQ — Key Dealer Gamma Levels The options structure is worth watching closely here because SPY and QQQ are currently sitting in slightly different regimes. These levels are model-derived estimates of dealer positioning rather than exchange-published positions. SPY 770 — Call Wall This is the major near-term upside gamma concentration. It can act as a magnet or resistance/pinning zone. Importantly, it is sitting almost directly alongside the gamma-neutral area, making 770–772 particularly important. 771–772 — Gamma Flip / Neutral Zone This is the approximate point where dealer positioning changes regime. Above this area → dealers move into positive gamma , where hedging generally suppresses volatility and dampens market moves. Below this area → dealers remain negative gamma , where hedging can amplify moves in either direction. SPY is currently below this level and therefore remains in a negative-gamma regime . 765 — First Put Wall This is the first major downside options concentration. A break below 765 while SPY remains in negative gamma would be important because dealer hedging could begin reinforcing the downside move rather than absorbing it. 760 — Deeper Structural Put Wall This remains the larger downside level identified by some broader positioning models. If 765 fails, 760 becomes the next major level to watch. A break through 760 while dealer gamma remains negative would represent a considerably more unstable structure. SPY map: 772+ → positive-gamma repair / more stable 770–772 → major regime battleground 765 → first downside wall 760 → deeper structural failure QQQ QQQ remains structurally stronger than SPY. 720 — Call Wall This is the major near-term upside gamma concentration and therefore the most obvious resistance/pinning area. A clean break through 720 accompanied by the call wall migrating higher would be constructive. ~714 — Gamma Flip / Neutral Zone This is currently the most important QQQ level. Above ~714 → dealers remain positive gamma , helping suppress volatility and encourage mean reversion. Below ~714 → QQQ begins transitioning toward negative gamma , increasing the probability that dealer hedging amplifies directional moves. QQQ remains above this level for now, although the positive-gamma cushion has narrowed. 710 — Tactical Put Wall This is the first important downside gamma concentration. If QQQ loses ~714 and subsequently breaks 710, the options structure becomes significantly less supportive. 700 — Major Structural Put Wall This is the deeper put wall identified across broader positioning models. A break through 700 while QQQ is already negative gamma would represent the much more important structural failure. QQQ map: 720+ → break of near-term call-wall resistance 714 → critical gamma regime boundary 710 → first tactical downside wall 700 → major structural downside wall What matters most The key divergence is straightforward: SPY is already negative gamma. QQQ is still positive gamma. That means QQQ is currently helping stabilize the broader market while SPY remains considerably more vulnerable to reflexive dealer hedging. The configuration becomes much more dangerous if: SPY and simultaneously QQQ At that point both major index ETFs would be operating in negative gamma at the same time. That is where a normal market decline has greater potential to become self-reinforcing through dealer hedging . Conversely, SPY reclaiming 771–772 while QQQ remains above 714 would restore a much more stabilizing options structure.
