WEEKLY LIQUIDITY UPDATE Global Liquidity Update Global Liquidity slipped to US$193.62 trillion in the latest data. The 3-month annualised growth rate eased to 6.5% 12-month growth moderated to 5.7% Latest data confirm that headline liquidity has hit a plateau at near-record highs. Both short-term and annual growth rates continue to decline, indicating a clear moderation in liquidity momentum. Collateral dynamics remain supportive but are likely moderating as evidenced by lower bond values and a slight rise in volatility. Underlying liquidity creation as measured by the Shadow Monetary Base (SMB) is weakening, despite renewed support from the PBoC. Nominal SMB has slipped below year-ago levels and short-term momentum remains negative. Could Proxima Centauri be driving the 7-year stock market cycle? In 2016, astronomers discovered a clear ~7-year stellar cycle in Proxima Centauri — the closest star to our Sun (4.24 light-years away). Key point: its stellar spots are much denser and far stronger than sunspots on our Sun. Activity lows: 2002 → 2009 → 2016 (next: 2023, 2030,...) Activity highs: 2006 → 2013 (next: 2020, 2027,...) These line up strikingly with several major stock-market cycle troughs. The data sample is still limited, and any physical mechanism at that distance is hard to imagine... yet the timing is hard to ignore. Coincidence?

Many cycle analysts look to the solar system for stable periodicities. Mercury’s synodic period is 115.9 days — strikingly close. Is there a real link? And if so, what’s the mechanism — direct, or indirect via subtle modulation of solar plasma/activity? More questions than answers at this point.
