The Bitcoin Use Case Nobody Wants to Mention Bitcoin's getting hammered right now and all the usual bears are back out saying it's worthless and has no real use. I want to share something with you that I genuinely don't think gets talked about enough, and now's probably the right time to hear it since everything's red. You know how people always bring up Bitcoin's power consumption like it's this huge knock against it? Bitcoin uses more electricity annually than Poland. More than Norway. It consumes more power than the entire global gold mining industry. You've heard all the versions of this argument and it always gets framed like it's a fatal flaw. What they don't realize is that power consumption actually became one of the most important things about it. We have tons of energy in this country that's trapped. And I mean all over the place: Sun baking in the desert with no grid to get it anywhere Wind farms in rural Texas producing more electricity than the grid can absorb Old abandoned wells onshore leaking methane nobody's going to clean up because there's no money in it Decommissioned oil platforms offshore still leaking and nobody wants to foot the bill to deal with them Hydropower dams in remote areas generating more electricity than anyone nearby actually needs Geothermal sources sitting in the middle of nowhere with no way to move the power out Building the infrastructure to connect all of this takes years, federal grants, a ton of money, and people willing to take the risk. So what do you do in the meantime? You need a buyer who doesn't care where the power is, doesn't need to be near a city, doesn't need roads or pipelines or any of that. Just electricity and an internet connection. That's what Bitcoin mining has become. The buyer of last resort for energy that would otherwise go completely to waste. Take those leaky methane wells. You can capture the methane, run it through a generator, produce electricity, mine Bitcoin with it, and sell the Bitcoin. That money funds the whole operation and lets you expand and clean up more wells. Methane is something like 80 times worse than CO2, so you're actually paying for environmental cleanup that would never happen otherwise because there was never any financial reason to do it. And the only reason it works now is because Bitcoin is there as the buyer. Companies are already doing this. Dropping mining rigs right at wellheads to capture gas that would just get flared off. Running operations on excess hydro and wind power the grid can't use. This isn't theoretical, it's happening right now. So when people say there's no use case, they're just not seeing what's actually going on. Bitcoin mining is probably the most flexible energy buyer that has ever existed, and it's quietly making clean energy projects work that wouldn't pencil out any other way. This is important to remember as everything's getting sold off... We're watching for a breakdown in FNGD before we consider buying the dip. But when that happens, remember this post. 'Scott
